Take a look at this picture here. I was taken almost a year ago.
He looks incredibly happy doesn't he? :D
Now..
Take a look at this next picture below~.
Does he (the one on the right) look happier than he did in the first picture?
Does he look more annoyed?
Or was he just really sleepy that day?
Hm... It could be all three or just one of those reasons. Maybe it was just the bunny ears bothering him. We'll never know.
But.. what we DO know from this picture is that Shiro now has a roommate! That's right people! :D We got a second doggie about a month ago.
His name's Frosty and he's a 7-month-old fluffball that drives Shiro nuts with his overflowing energy. Despite how similar in appearance they are, Frosty and Shiro have complete opposite personalities.
Opposite personalities?! Isn't that a bad thing??
For some people, having opposite personalities is a bad thing because it means having nothing in common. It's true for Shiro and Frosty too, and because of their opposite personalities, it took almost an entire month for Shiro to accept Frosty into the family.
But does having completely different personalities mean friendship is impossible?
If you can accept your differences, then friendship is definitely possible. The keyword here is acceptance. If you're stubborn and aggressive like Shiro, It might take a while for that to happen. At first, Shiro would growl at Frosty if he was even a foot away from him. If Frosty wanted to cuddle with Shiro, Shiro would find a way to scare him away from the doggie bed with his aggressiveness. Now, however, they can sleep through the night in the same doggie bed and can't stand to be away from each other. XD
If it takes so long to accept someone else, why even bother?
In Shiro and Frosty's case, they had no choice. But if aggressive and shy dogs can learn to accept each other, humans can do it to! We have language to our advantage too, so the ability to verbally communicate shortens the amount of time it takes for people to accept each other.
Once you get past the acceptance step, there are so many things you can learn from each other to keep each other from getting tired of such a complicated friendship.
In Frosty's case, he learned to stand up for himself when facing off against Shiro's aggressiveness, Shiro taught him the difference between barking and squeaking, and he's not so shy anymore.
Shiro, on the other hand, learned that too much aggressiveness is a bad thing, he learned to accept other dogs into his territory and personal space, and he learned to share things like food, his bed, and the attention they get.
Of course, with humans, the learning-experiences may be a bit-- if not completely-- different, but there's always something new to learn from a friendship.
So in the end everyone wins. Unless you associate learning-experiences with a negative connotation, there's really nothing to lose and you'll just make positive memories along the way.
In summary, Dog-Bunny Shiro just wants you to know that all friendships are a good thing, and they're something we should cherish always. If he was able to accept and learn from a friendship, we all can. So don't let your chances of having an awesome friendship slip away. :D

awww <3 such a sweet post about friendship, and i like how you use the story about shiro and frosty to represent a friendship :3. it's true that we have to accept each other, especially when we have complete different personalities. but the friendship itself is the most important part, so it's a waste to let it slip away o:
